December 2008

** BEHOLD THE MIRACLE **
Wishing You Merry Days, A Heart That’s Light,
Family and Friends, a Season Bright!

Another month has passed,
Here are the Highlights & Happenings
As always this past month has been extremely busy with traveling to Wisconsin and helping Jo-Anne & Dad move in the new house and the Thanksgiving Holiday, but we finally finished & I would have to say almost 98% done! Although Jo-Anne has this huge craft Armoire that has not been refilled with all the craft goodies Jo has, (IT’S AMAZING)!!! I really love her house & she even has a spare bedroom with my name attached to it, so I will always have a place to hang my hat when I’m in town! I initiated the help of Jo-Anne’s good friend Pam a local artist who painted portraits of Mom & Dad & we put them in some antique oval convex glass frames & this was my house warming/Birthday/Christmas gift for Jo-Anne & they are absolutely stunning! Thanks Pam!!!
ALSO BIG NEWS!!! My Nephew Andrew Beerntsen (Ida’s Son) is back in the States after completing his 2nd tour of duty in Iraq!!! YEAH!!! Please help us CELEBRATE him home!
I believe he has a month off & will be home for Christmas. My whole Family is so thankful He is safely returned to us & can’t wait to see him again!!!
Now I would like to talk a bit about a Christmas tradition my Family & I knew as children, which is St. Nick Day…
On Dec 5th in the Evening Some of our Neighbors would dress as St. Nick / Santa and would peek in our windows and scare us, then they would pound on our door & ring bells they carried, when we answered the door we would place a chair for them to sit on, they never usually spoke, just pointed, 1st they would point at their ear, this meant we would tell him what we wanted for Christmas, then they would point at their cheek, this meant we give St. Nick a kiss on the cheek. Then he would toss peanuts for us to gather and we would receive a plastic stocking that was filled with candy & small trinkets or just a bag with candies & if we were lucky there would be some angel food candy in it.
Today my Sister Mary celebrates by leaving a stocking or a shoe hung by the mantle on Dec 5th to be filled with candies & small gifts. & my Sister Jo-Anne usually buys everyone small gifts like socks or color books for the small kids.

Next you will find a story of St Nicholas Day in Belgium!!!

St. Nicholas, The Children's Friend
A Belgian Tradition for December 6
by Ade Bethune

St. Nicholas was an important figure of my childhood in Belgium over sixty years ago. He was the children's friend. On December 6, his (not on Christmas), he brought toys and goodies.
First, you had to be good yourself. Be obedient. Listen. Tell the truth. Say your prayers. Ask permission. Say "please" and "thank you." Say "Good morning" and "Good night." Put your toys away in the evening. Drink your milk. Finish your food. Brush your teeth. Tie your shoe laces. Let your mother cut your fingernails. Put your shoes where you will find them in the morning. Also many don'ts. No quarreling with your big brother and sister. No hitting people. No breaking things. No whining. No stealing what is not yours. Respect the other children's toys. Quite a program, both of good things to do and bad deeds to avoid.
Ideal children would do good things at all times. But in real life, a period of special effort is helpful. St. Nicholas's coming provided just that. His gifts would show approval of my conduct.
What seemed like weeks ahead, advance notice was given and early preparations began. Every evening, our night prayer included a hymn in honor of St. Nicholas. There were three stanzas.
To be sure, every day conversation also centered on the great theme. On and on it went.
On the morning of December 5, the children were gathered at the foot of the stairs because some of the grownups thought they heard a sound coming down from the attic. We sang another song to welcome our friend and, no sooner was the song finished than a hail of tiny cookies rained down from above. Just a little sign that St. Nicholas was thinking of us! Just the encouragement we needed to live through the last twenty-four hours and keep our record high. Then, in the evening, a last fervent night prayer and hop into bed.
The next morning, an unbelievable vision of beauty was spread before our eyes. Presents were not wrapped in colored paper, but artistically displayed on the floor, at the foot of the coal stove, between a scattering of bright red apples, oranges, walnuts, hazelnuts, and St. Nicholas cookies. The presents were not marked (little ones don't yet know how to read anyway), but instinctively my brother and sister and I knew which treasure was intended for each child. There were no presents for the grown-ups. This was a children's feast. Grown-ups got their pleasure out of seeing the children's joy, and possibly supplying some helpful hints about equitable sharing of apples, nuts and cookies. The rest of the holiday was very much like the American Christmas which in fact combines St. Nicholas' Day and Jesus' Birthday.
This leads me right into…

1st Mary Ann Pierre-Johnson from WI
Hello Jean
Thanks for the family connection info and for the blog site information. I am fascinated by all the news and family tree things you have accumulated. Who is Richard? How is he related to you? I take it the house your sister is building on the family land is in southern Door County? Where exactly is it in relation to Casco and Brussels? I must attend the Lincoln Kermis next year! Who knew? I have always been interested in my family heritage. Of course Dan can come. I am so anxious to meet you both. My husband, Mel, loves to cook also. He is Scandinavian by heritage and grew up in So. Dakota- a flat lander -as he says. I am the oldest of four children. my sister Barb lives farther away but my brothers Dave and Jeff and their families live very near to me. I have three children, 2 sons and a daughter. My oldest son works for a Sheriff’s department, and would very much like to live in the Dykesville area some day. Nate is getting married the end of January. He is 28, our daughter Sarah is 24 and our youngest son Michael is a sophomore at anarea University. Michael is adopted and has been with us since age four. He was born in Honduras.
I have many fond memories of visiting the general store in Brussels WI as a small child. It was run by my great uncle, Clarence and Mamie Pierre. We go to pick cherries out side of Casco almost every August and I used to ride horse with my cousin Jill Fameree as a child, just south of Potawatomi. How old is your father? He and my grandmother would have been first cousins, correct? I miss her so much. She has been gone two years now. She died at age 98. An amazing woman. I am assuming that Frank was the older of the two brothers, but do you know how much younger your grandfather Joe was?
I have lots of questions, answer when you have time. Mary Ann
I replied
I'm so glad to hear you liked the blog site & also that your interested in our history as well.
I spoke with your Dad many months ago when I reached out to the Pierre branch of the Fameree's & I have been sending him email notifications of the blog update & any important family info, I had asked him for email address' for his children, so needless to say I am real glad to make your acquaintance, if you would like to share email address' for any of your siblings or children I would be happy to add them to our growing list. I have a family tree on this link http://gw.geneanet.org/jfameree please feel free to visit this site. I am missing your Michael, if you could send me full name & birthdays I will add to the family tree.
Ok, let me answer some of the questions Richard is our relative going pretty far up our tree.
1st of all let me work backwards from your great grandfather Frank born in 1883 & my Grandpa Joe born in 1888 their Dad was Honore born in 1849, his Dad was Jean Babtiste born April 1st 1810 (This past year we proclaimed our own Fameree Holiday called it Jean Babtiste day, I made Chicken Booyah & we had Belgian Beer (Blue Moon) & I made a batch of Galettes MMMM (maybe next year a will have one of the pies from our pie making event!!!
Any ways one of Jean Babtiste's Bothers name was Constant he stayed in Belgium but several of his children imagrated to Chicago several years after Jean Babtiste & his family did (around the time of the Chicago Fire (I believe their Voyage was paid for by the goverment to inlist carpenters & masons to help with the rebuilding of the devastated city.
One of Constant's children named Jean Joseph was the great grandfather to Richard. He spells his last name Fammeree & we dropped the double M shortly after the arrival to US & the Fammeree's I know in Belgium still have the double M. There are several Fameree's in Belgium with 1 M & I believe us to be related we just have to keep researching (here & Belgium).
My Sister Jo-Anne's house on the Family Land (My Dad is the Constable of the Township for the last 42 years, he is 82).
I would love to get together or you could take the train we could go downtown, I love to go around the holidays, there is a small German style Krist Krindle Markt. & always lots of sightseeing...
Now I would like to ask a favor would you send a family picture so I can include it in December Virtual reunion? That’s what it's all about just trying to acquaint all of Family members we don't know about. I will be including our email conversations in the Responders section & your picture would be a nice touch.
I don't know how much of the Blog you were able to explore, but there is an entry for each Month back to Feb you can access them by clicking on the left side. You can also pull up the Land Deed & if you click on it will right size it & you can even print it.
I will attach our family tree that I drafted in excel (It only has the Pierre's down to your Dad & Siblings).
Sorry to be so long winded but I get carried away when I know someone is interested.
I will also attach the Deed for you & Pix of Frank & Ernestine Fameree.
Enjoy & I will talk with you soon.
PS Dan & I so look forward to meeting you & all your Family as well. Sincerely, Jean

Next after a thanksgiving wish I sent out, I received the following responses
1st Tobi Fameree from Minnesota
Thank you for the note Jeanne. Life has been busy in Minnesota, too! I have not had time to do anything with the Fameree family history for you, but I still plan to do so. Perhaps over the long cold winter when I'm not as tempted to leave my nice warm home! Tobi Fameree
Next Nicole Fameree-Gall from Texas
Jeanne-
This month has been a hectic time for us. We've been going out of town and getting ready for my husband's departure to Korea (they are packing his stuff today). So we've been slowly trying to pack Kalix and my things so that we can move in with my mother and put the rest of our stuff in storage. Next week my sister-in-laws will be coming in for Thanksgiving and then Jeff leaves on the 3rd for a year. We are expecting as well, the baby is due in May...we don't know the sex of the baby yet. :) Other than that, not much is going on.
I hope that you guys have a great Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays. Take care. –Nicole
Robin Nelson is next
Hi Jean,
This is Robin......Ethel’s daughter. I was wondering how the Lemmons are related to us?
The girls we in school at the same time my sons were and never realized they were related. Very nice kids. Thanks, Robin
I then replied
Sorry this took so long, I had to do a little research before I could reply.
As near as I can tell the Lemens Family married into the Fameree's indirectly thru 6 different Families.
3 different Collin Families (all 3 Collin trace back to Desire & Caroline Fameree Collin (Sister to Frank your Great Grandfather)
Vlies (which traces back thru Mary Vlies Fameree (married to Honore(your great great Grandfather)
Majeski (traces back thru Jean Babtiste aka John Fameree (Brother to Frank your great grandfather)
Pierre (traces back to Mary Pierre your Great Aunt)
I hope the list below helps you to find the lemens family your looking for.
Take Good Care Robin. It's nice to hear from you again. Sincerely, Jean
She then responded
Whew.......complicated...very interesting.....thanks for all the trouble!
Have a great Thanksgiving. Robin

Kathy Ducat sent the next response
Happy time of thanks to you and your family!
Safe travels too.
We've been coming down from the high of running the New York City
Marathon. Great time had by all.
Battling a cold. Submitted the eviction notice to the nasty virus, but
it is stubborn about leaving my body host. Think I will need to hire an
attorney to get it moved out.
We are staying here in town for Thanksgiving Day as Jim's brother and
wife will be in town. Much happy, Kathy
I replied
Thanks for your Sunny reply.
Always brings a smile to my face & to all our Virtual Family as well.
Congrats & Kudos on running the Marathon!! I really admire you & your ambition!!!
Good luck on the eviction of the VIRUS, sometimes it just needs to run it's course.
Take good care & I will talk with you soon. Sincerely, Jeanne

I then received an email from Tom Fameree from Wi
Jean,
What is the approximate address of this log cabin? I'd like to take a drive someday and walk the homestead.
Thanks, Tom Fameree
I replied
It can be seen from the road on the Family land.
Thought you may like the pix of your Great Grandfather Jean Babtiste(aka John) named after Jean Babtiste whom imagrated from Belgium in 1856.
If you care to send a Family photo & listing of who's who & maybe a few words about yourself, your Job, Hobbies and interest in our history etc. I will include in the next Virtual Reunion posting. Regards, Jean

Jeannette Fameree-Vandervest sent the next email
Hi Jean:
Was nice hearing from you and I wish you and all a Happy Thanksgiving. Where is your Dad moving? I didn't know they were building a house. That is nice everyone is helping out. They say the more the merrier. Sounds like you will be in Wisconsin for Thanksgiving. Take care and May God Bless. Jeanette

Hope and pray all are doing well! Take Care and God Bless!
Love, The Hafeman Family (Barry & Jane; Ben, Jessi, Grant & Olivia;
Jason, Lieneke & Evan; Sarah & Andrew)

Then Janielle Fameree sent a reply to Jane’s email
Hello Jane-
Thank you for the Thanksgiving wish. I had a good Thanksgiving; Nicole gave me the opportunity to be a guest in my own house, by preparing dinner for the family. Her two sister-in-laws flew in from California for the occasion. I missed having Danielle here with her family, but I was happy knowing she shared the day with her extended family there in Lubbock. We all have our good health and in the company of loved ones, as I'm sure you all did. We are in good care and are blessed, as I pray you are too. Love y'all, Janielle

Another month has passed,
Here are the Highlights & Happenings

Hello Dear Family,

As always this past month has been full of interesting events!
However, I would like to focus this article on Celebrating
Richard Fammeree & Our Families in Belgium & USA
Past, Present & Future.
Their is so much History we have yet to uncover in our relatives from the 1800's & the immigration of certain Fammeree/Fameree families. As well as our relatives today & the Fameree/Fammeree families who remained in Belgium. Their is a family tie but we are just starting to make connections & I am pleased to be a part of this renewal & reacquainting of our families. I really give Richard so much credit for having this vision and following through with it. Maintaining a positive outlook & enlisting my help (although it took me about a 10 year span to jump aboard). It was through Richard's help that I was introduced to the Fammeree's/Rigot's who live in Belgium & It was with Richard's encouragement that I was able to renew and meet up with our Fameree relatives in Wisconsin. It was his suggestion to start this Virtual Reunion A Living Family Tree! (He actually sent out our first one!) (& then, like I am pretty famous for I TOOK OVER!) and I actually have received many positive comments and have met relatives that I never even dreamed existed!
So Mister Richard I salute you & give you credit for being who you are & doing what you do best!
Also I want to wish you a happy Birthday on November 3rd!!!
This next email from Richard to Catherine Fammeree (from Belgium) ties in well with this article.
Thank you, dearest Cathy. In 1890, my great-grandfather (the little brother of your great-great grandfather) Jean-Joseph named his first child Eugénie after his mother. Letters began to fly between Chicago and Longueville and Wisconsin (where his uncle and first cousins had homesteaded half a century before). Soon, he would receive a letter form his little sister Adèle announcing the birth of her son Fernand (the grandfather of Sylvie and SImon Rigot). Correspondence fades with the beginning of World War II in 1939. And, then, there was not a word for forty years--until we miraculously found each other in the summer of 1980.Now, after almost 120 years, our family correspondence announcing the birth of the next generation begins again. I am so thankful, for I love you and Philippe and Nicole and your dear, dear parents very much.Rachel and Adèle and I are so happy for you and Cédric and Océane. I so look forward to the day we visit--and you visit, too! Remember, you always have a home in America. Love & blessings, Richard

This brings me to my corresponding story.
In the early 1850’s, in Belgium, all people were buzzing with excitement over the news that in America there was fertile land that stretched hundreds of miles with no one living on it. This Land could be purchased from The American Government for $1.25 an Acre. Belgian families did not have a specific destination in mind when decided to leave their homes, they just knew the pamphlet they had read, referred only to the cheap land and opportunities available in “America”.
And so let the Ocean Voyages Begin!!!
In the 1850s, Wisconsin maintained an “immigration official” in New York City. His job
was established to recruit settlers and to help new arrivals to their destination
One poster read:
Come! In Wisconsin all men are free and equal before the law. Religion is free
and equal between church and state. Opportunities are unlimited for those who
want to work. Good land can be purchased from the generous American
government for $1.25 an acre. The soil is adapted to raising corn, wheat, rye,
oats, barley and vegetables.
In 1856, the year when the largest number emigrated, thousands of Belgians from the
province of Brabant left for Wisconsin and most of them settled in the present Counties of Northeast Brown, Kewaunee and southern Door.
On May 13th 1856 Jean Babtiste Fameree his Wife Claire, 7 year old Son Honore, 23 year old Daughter Marie, her Husband Jean & their Daughter Anne stood on the Deck of the Ship “Gertrude” watching the receding shoreline with heavy hearts at the thought of leaving the home of their birth, their dear Relatives & Friends, the memorial sites of their deceased children & Parents!
They arrived at Ellis Island and then traveled on to Wisconsin & then Northeast to a small Township called Red River they then settled on the Fameree land and in 1859 the 40 acres they settled on was deeded to them by the Sate of Wisconsin & the deed was signed by President Buchanan. The Paragraph below is, in my opinion, the closest depiction of how their land was obtained.

HOW BELGIANS OBTAINED THEIR LAND
Belgians who came in 1855 and 1856 often went to the land office and asked to be
assigned land in the general area of the Belgian Settlement. After they paid a small
preemption claim entry fee, the clerk assigned them forties of land. This unusual
procedure was due to a great influx of immigrants who knew nothing about U.S. land
surveys. New groups, guided by an earlier immigrant, would walk away sixty or more
miles to Mehasha to get descriptions of the lands allotted them by a land agent. They
would then return to Bay Settlement and wait for land cruiser Rickard to locate their
lands. Armed with a compass he would walk into the deep woods, through swamps and
underbrush, with small groups of new arrivals and point out a tree that was the northwest corner of each new owner’s land. Each settler would carry an ax, a gun, blankets and food. After locating a land owner’s corner, they would mark it by chopping down trees at that point so that the property owner could find it again.
And Now the story that will tie this all together.
My Sister Jo-Anne & my Dad Jule have just erected a brand new home on the original Fameree Forty Acre land almost 150 years after Jean Babtiste & family was deeded the land!!! Amazing
Also, my Dad Jule has given one of the original Log buildings on the Family Land, to my 3 Sisters Ida, Mary, Jo-Anne & Myself & we intend to restore this building to as close to original condition as possible… This Structure was originally utilized as a workshop/Granary & we all know it as the “Old Shop” When we decided to do this, we thought what shall we call this place which will SOME day become a Fameree Family Historical site? We asked Dad how he would say the words “the Old House” in Belgian & his reply was, (spelled phonetically) Le Ve Mo Jo’ne and going forward this is how we will refer to it .

OOPPPS I Missed an important Birthday In October

"The Responders"
1st email from Catherine Fammeree (Sambreville Belgium) to Richard
Dear Adèle, Rachel and Richard A Big thank you for the gift. We have just received it this morning. Océane will be splendid in all clothing. We take a photograph so that you can see her in the beautiful clothing. I hope that Adèle will be able one day to meet our little Océane and to keep contact. Adele is a very pretty little girl.Big kisses from Océane, Cédric and Catherine. hoping to see you very soon.
Next email comes from Amy Pierre-Brownson (Wisconsin), We met at the Lincoln Kermiss & we thought it would be neat to carry on a very important tradition (Belgian Pie Making)
Hello Jean,
I spoke with my cousin, Mary Ann Pierre. She is the expert at using my Grandma
Mary (Fameree) Pierre's Belgian pie recipe. She would be happy to have a
training session, but would prefer after the holidays. Her son is getting
married in Jan. Amy
I replied
That sounds great we can work out the date when it is convenient for you guys.
Mary Ann replied
Amy, Jean I will check my calendar when I get back to work on Wednesday. I am off this week for knee surgery, and I am not sure when the orthopedic convention is. It would be the only conflict, as I am going to go to Las Vegas for it.Lets tentatively shoot for a Sat in February, at my house, and I will confirm later in the week. It will give me something to look forward to after the wedding. Mary Ann
An add on from Mary Ann
Hi It is as I thought, I will in Vegas so the Sat in Feb should be just fine for pie making. See y'all then. Do you want me to get the necessary ingredients and then we will divvy up the cost of making them? I don't mind doing it that way. I can do the shopping for everything on Friday, since I am off on Fridays and then we can even things out on Sat. We can decide more later. Looking forward to meeting Jean Fameree-Miller--another cousin. MaryAnn
Then Amy responded
I think it would work fine if you would like to get the ingredients and split costs. Are there things we could make ahead like the fillings? I have frozen blueberries, if it would work to use those? I think we should use Peter (My Brother’s) suggestion and videotape it. He said he would make it into a Belgian pie making "episode" and convert it to DVD's for anyone in the family. Could be interesting : - )
I replied
Well, I think this is Great!!!
Would it be ok if some of my Sisters join in? Will there be enough room?
Next time I'm home I will look for my moms pie pans she used to have about 50 of them, I'm not sure if they are still there or not. I will also look at some of the recipes my Mom had to see if I can get some of the fillings I remember from my Childhood like maybe Prune, Raisin or Rice.
I also think the taping of the event is an excellent idea. Its kind of how I feel about recording my Dad speaking Belgian on tape, if we don't get this documented NOW, there goes another part of our heritage & history without another generation learning it!!! This is all good, I will be very happy to get to know the Pierre's & learn more about any stories or recipes from your branch of our Family tree. I have a couple to share that I have acquired through the years. Top of the list would be Gallettes (Belgian Waffles in warmed milk with sugar & Cinnamon. Also there is a dish called Jut(cabbage with black pepper)or Ratatouille (Boiled Potatoes & Cabbage together with black pepper). I also have an assortment of old portraits that you all may interested in seeing. & also if any of you have old photo's to share, I would love to see them & maybe even have copies made to put in our Virtual collection!. I really look forward to this!!! Sincerely, Jean
Mary Ann Responded
Hi all,I am not sure how many sisters Jean has but we can make room for all who want to come and help or watch or chat. The more the merrier. We would have more stories to share that way. Jean, I have the recipes for rice pie, prune, poppy seed, raisin, apple. We have also made cherry and raspberry. They came from my Grandma Pierre's cookbook. I made them with her many times before she died. It is a fond memory I have. I also have a Belgian cookbook my mom gave me 10 years ago, and the recipes are in there also, but they are referred to as Flemish tarts. If you have recipes from your childhood bring them along so we can compare. Also the other recipes. I have had jut and Ratatouille before also. I would like the Belgian waffle recipe too. If you have extra pie plates bring those along. I have only about 10 or so. My grandma used to make a "sugar pie" when we were done baking the belgian pie. It was served warm to those of us baking. She would take the dough, put brown sugar, cinnamon and heavy cream on top of the dough and bake it up. Yummy. Looking forward to meeting you and your sisters. Which branch of the family tree are you grown on? How do you relate to my great grandmother Ernestine Fammeree and her husband Frank. You are not part of Uncle Nori's clan so are you related to my great uncle Ernest Fammeree? or is it different than that., I am the daughter of Everett and Helen, and the OLDest grandchild of Mary Fameree and Wilfred Pierre. All for now.... Mary Ann Pierre Johnson
I then replied
Sorry this took so long, I have 3 Sister's , Ida, Mary & Jo-Anne & my Boyfriend Dan would like to come to experience our culture & the EVENT he's Italian & LOVES to cook, so he is VERY excited (I think ready to taste test)!
How we are related you ask? Your Great Grandfather Frank & My Grandfather Joe were Brothers. I'm really looking forward to this get together!
Take Good care Mary Ann, I will talk to you soon. Sincerely, Jean

October 2008
Another month has passed,
Here are the Highlights & Happenings

Once again this past month has held many events for our Families & I would have to say the most important event was the PKD Walk on Sept 20th. This the Poly-cystic Kidney Disease fund raising event). I could not make it which is unfortunate because I very much wanted to participate. I am blessed with 2 wonderful Nieces Leah & Allison who walked for me & My Sisters Ida & Mary went along to cheer all on, along with many Fameree Family members & friends. I was able to raise awareness & funds at my work & I matched the raised dollars to add to a nice donation which I feel proud of. I will make every effort to attend next years event!
The reason I could not make it was my long time friend Cristela had a Quinceañera for her Daughter Tahely (The Quinceañera or Quince años is, a young woman's celebration of her fifteenth birthday, ...In the Mexican tradition, the celebration is a festive gathering with relatives and friends. Sometimes a church mass is celebrated in honor of the birthday girl. The "Quinceaños" celebration to the Mexicans, marks the transition from girlhood to womanhood.) There was a beautiful Catholic mass held & I cried during most of the ceremony!!! The tradition represented was truly remarkable! The music was inspiring as well as sentimental. There was a huge reception afterwards equivelant to our weddings. then after the dinner the dancing began the 1st dance of the evening was Tahely with her Dad, then with her Grandfather, then the first waltz began with her court of honor. then after the waltz she went off the dance floor & came back a few minutes later dressed in sequined top & leggings & thats when the pop dancing began (it was like watching dancing with the stars!) What a great time was had.

Then there was the beginning of the month, over Labor Day Weekend, Dan & I went to OhioLand & we were able to get in some fishing at the local Quarry & we drove into Pittsburgh & went to a Pittsburgh Pirates vs Milwaukee Brewers Baseball game (Dan is a Pirates fan) & they lost... But we had a beautiful sunny day & we really had a nice time.

My Dad’s health seems to be (satisfactory) however there seems to be many issues always coming up to cause setbacks. He definitely finds solace in his work!!! He gets up every day & spends most of his day in “The Garage” for those who don’t know it is a small Service like station. He does small repairs, tire changing & sells small items to the locals.

Next on the news front My Niece Leah bought her Mom (My Sister Mary) a Puppy for her Birthday! A cute loveable little Golden Lab Pure Bred, after careful thought they decided to name him Gus Gus! ( I just call him Gus). We were home for his first weekend and fun was had by all.

We also were home for my Great Niece Riley’s 2nd Birthday! Her Mom Jenny had a barbecue & it was delish! & Riley was having a great time as did all attending.

Happy Birthday / Bon Anniversaire to all

Richard's Thoughts
Richard would like to share one of his Poems

Evora (English)
In Evora there is a church and the church was once a mosque and the mosque was once a church and the church was once a temple in the time of the Romans Behind the altar there is a false tomband beneath a Christian name there are thousands of years of roots writhing through stone and water echoes up vertebrae which must have been steps and its light is the juice of emeralds Now, consider the well that is my throatand the pool that is my chest What does one do when a well has been capped for so many generations? Is water safe in the stomach? How did I become addicted to a self-imposed periphery, its tithes, its prick and its poison? Can all of this be unlearned in one generation, one season, one summer? My grandfathers and grandmothers and their grandparents meet for the first time in me I carry them to familiar places I am their hands, their thighs, their nose, their eyes, their lips, their teeth, their tongue How did I become addicted to a self-imposed periphery, its tithes, its prick and its poison? Can all of this be unlearned in one generation, one season, one summer? I am the voice and the body nowand all that is closed will be opened and all that hurts will be repairedand all that sleeps without dreaming will be green againIn Evora there is a churchInside the church there is a tomband inside the tomb there is a cisternInside the cistern there is water and it’s light is the juice of emeralds c Fammerée 2008

"The Responders"
1st Jo-Anne Fameree from Casco, Wisconsin Writes
Hi All,
Jo-Anne here,
I am Jeanne’s youngest sister.

I am 42 years old and work as a Senior Insurance Consultant for RSM McGladrey, Inc. My company contracts with state insurance departments to go into insurance companies and review policies, procedures and process to determine if they are operating in accordance with state insurance laws. This has me working on he road the majority of time. In general, I spend my time on the road and go home to Wisconsin every other weekend. I spend a lot of time in planes and hotels. This allows me to do some traveling with reward points.

I like to scrapbook, make homemade cards for the troops and the homebound. I also spend time working on our Youth Ministry program at our church.

I am in the middle of building a new house, in Red River , where I will live with my father. My dad is very excited about the new house. We should be moved in shortly after Halloween.

Kathy Ducat From Sun Prairie Wisconsin
Hi Jeanne,Like that BLOG!So, who lives in Sun Prairie? It would be super neat-o cool to get to know him / her.
How is your dad? Bye for now, Kathy

I responded
Hi Kathy,
I'm SOOO glad that you like the Blog!!!
I have been wanting to intoduce you to Kelly Hanamann-Havel (her Mother is the youngest child of Ernest & Emma Fameree)(Ernest is the Son of Frank Fameree who is the brother to your Great Grandmother Caroline & My Grandfather Joe).
She grew up in Casco & her Mom & Dad still live in Casco & building a new house still in Casco.
It would be great if the 2 of you can get together & maybe share a ride home now & again.
My Dad seems to be doing ok...we went home last weekend & a piece of iron fell & hit him in the leg & left a huge gash so my Sister called the Dr. & got more Antibiotics for him, he is really tired of taking all the pills. He is a trooper though he keeps plugging away...
My Sister Mary said she used to work with your Sister Lynn. She also heard that your Mom has been ill lately, I hope all is ok with her???
Take care & hope your enjoying the fall weather.

Océane sends BIG kisses. She is in good health. Her mom is recovering nicely. Her birth gives so much happiness to us and all the family. The Family Fammerée s' increased in Belgium . Océane has the following personality: Active and dynamic, She has a driving will, which will lead to great success. Worry, she is a perfectionist & meticulous person. She appears generous with her friends and is wary with the unknown ones. Her first name is Greek in origin and comes from océanos which means " océan".
Big kisses from your family of Belgium.

Next Sandy Nelson-Lardinois From Denver Colorado sent me an email
after I sent her a copy of a picture of her & her siblings from 1961 found in my Dad's attic.

Hi Jean,
LOL! Thanks for the trip (or stumble) down memory lane. Thank you so much for sharing. I have a picture I was going to add to the blog. The Denver newspaper did an 8-page spread on For Love of the Glove and the two-page center had shots of the Denver Rockies baseball team with their gloves and locals with theirs. Mine fell into the "old" gloves still used and loved by their owners! It actually inspired me to play more--three nights a week in summer, one in fall. I'm grateful my teams still let me play. Havin' a ball at 61. This is the caption that went with the photo. I attached the jpg of the photo, and I'm on the left. (I'm the one who looks like a Fameree. LOL) Sandy
The friends play softball for Ladies Night Out, which has been competing for 20 years in the Denver area. "More than any other glove, this glove, which has been with me since the 1980s, fits me perfectly," Sandy Lardinois said. "The webbing shades my eyes as I watch the ball come out of the sun to slam into the pocket." Buckingham is an old-school first baseman. "I love this glove and won't play without it," she said. "I know it sounds silly, but I have so much faith in my ability to scoop a throw at first base with this glove. It's old and broken in, probably about 45 years old, but to me it's priceless!"

Kathy Ducat sent me an email next

Hi Jeanne,
Been thinking of you all and hoping your dad is doing OK.
Also been thinking of a European trip.
Since you have visited Belgium previously, maybe you would share some
points of interest. Where do you usually stay?
I would really like to be able to take my son who is student teaching as
a history teacher in Kewaunee. I looked at possibly swapping a house.
This way, more of us could stay in one place.
Being in Europe and seeing history is far better than reading about it
or seeing a video... Is there a place one can find Richard's upcoming concerts?
I searched quickly this morning and did not find it jumping right out at
me. Looking forward to the October Family news :)
All of our best, Kathy

I responded
Hi Kathy,
Well my Dad is hangin in there I guess...He seems to always have issues these days !
A couple Saturday's ago he fell & Couldn't get up & NO one was around & he ended up calling 911. So my Sisters set him up with LifeLine, which seems like a good thing.
We are going back again this weekend to make sure all is going ok.
As for Belgium we did a whirlwind trip & I travelled with my Sister Jo-Anne (who for her work travels 100% so she has Marriot Points so when we stayed at hotels throughout Europe, we were able to stay for free basically on her reward points... Now when Dan & I go I don't know... I was going to try to, maybe hook up with some of the relatives & maybe stay with some of them only a few days at a time. I really want to do try to connect with as many Family Members as I can & try to learn more about where are relatives are from & the culture. I have much research to do & I'm hoping to work on this soon. I will keep you in the loop as to what I find out. As for Richards Concerts I will cc him so that he can send you updates on his upcomning events. His Blog site is http://fammeree.blogspot.com/ only difference between our Family Blog site & His is the double M's.Thanks for your Kind words, I will Talk to you soon Kathy. Sincerely, Jeanne
