Another Month has past,
Here are the Highlights & Happenings!!

I missed mentioning Mothers Day in last months Email.
So I would like to wish all Mothers a Belated Happy Mothers Day!

I would also like to wish a Happy Fathers Day to all Dads!!!

I'd like to share a letter to the Editor;from My Life Partner Dan List !!!

Dear Jeanne:

When I was a kid growing up in the Youngstown, Ohio, area in the '50's, I did like my Dad said he did as a young man, and I sought out old people and tried to lever their wisdom out for my benefit. My Dad said that he benefited greatly from this. My experience was not so enlightening. The typical sentiment was that "if you didn't go through the Great Depression, you don't know nothin'."

I objected as a 13-year-old to the notion that each generation has to start from ground zero. This has been a central concept for me all these years, that each generation should lay down a course of stones, cemented neatly over the courses laid down by previous generations, like a stonemason building a wall. Our children should leap from our shoulders.

As I watch you laboring hours over your genealogical research and preparing your monthly updates to the many in your extended Family who have expressed an interest in this project, another central concept of mine comes to mind. I have seen in my own life how evil can reach across continents and down at least four generations. I wonder how far the reach of good can be, and wonder can it ever be as strong as the force of evil.

Here you are, exploring the layers of the Fameree "Wall", excavating down eight generations, and you have found a branch of the Family with Poly cystic Kidney Disease. You have helped raise awareness and helped raise money for this cause. The power of good is in operation! Now if the rest of the family becomes a close, frequently-used network of friends, the individuals in the greater Family will have resources to help them through the tough times and emergencies which are part of life. The PKD support is only the first benefit from your efforts. There will be more.

I don't know of any organization in which any more than a very small portion makes the whole thing go. Most people are only along for the ride. I hope that this Fameree/Fammeree/Famre network comes alive with many helping hands. It's easy to be an observer, but much more rewarding to be an active participant.

John Babtistefully,

Dan

June Birthdays...

Richard's Thoughts
Adele will be one year old on June 22. She so completes the circle of our lives
and our family. Rachel and I are blessed. While Adele learns to walk and talk
and certainly play/compose music in her first “studio,” Rachel is preparing to
return to teaching this fall at Northwestern University, and I am beginning two new albums as well as performing and always writing poetry [http://fammeree.blogspot.com/]. This month in London, Ann West is preparing to release the album we wrote together
[www.myspace.com/annwest]. It looks like I’ll be traveling to the UK this month
for a BBC Showcase. And, of course, UniVerse of Poetry is forever expanding [www.universeofpoetry] to include more refugee poets from every corner of the world. Blessings to all our dear family, Adele, Rachel, Richard

Please visit Richards blogsite as well as ours, the only difference being the double M's

"The Responders"

{this is the section where Relatives have emailed me with news or information about themselves or their immediate family members.}

1st responder is Jane Fameree-Hafeman from Wisconsin

Hi Jean, I wanted to Thank You for the invite to meet at the Village Kitchen. I had to work that Saturday but did stop in around 9:00am to see if anyone was there yet. I forgot the time everyone was to meet. I didn't see anyone I knew there at the time. I just wanted to say Hi and introduce myself before I left for work. I will have to catch everyone next time.Thank you for all the interesting updates. My Son,(Jason) and Daughter-in-law (Lieneke) are going to Amsterdam for her Cousins Wedding in August. I do believe they are also going to BELGIUM so I told them about our Fammeree/Fameree relatives over there so I do hope they check the phone book out for me. Thanks again, Jean! Your cousin, Jane

Jane then sent this email

Hi Everyone, Sarah and I are informing all of you about the PKD (Polisystic Kidney Disease)Walk that is held in Green Bay.
We formed a Team last year (Sarah & Andrew, Jody & Peter, and Barry andmyself). We call our selves The Orville & Mike Fameree Bunch.
We wanted to walk in remembrance of them. The Walk this year is on Saturday September 20th, 2008 at Colburn Park in Green Bay. Registration is at 9:00am and the Walk is at 10:00am. We are hoping that you can join us this year. We understand if you can't make it. Alot of you live farther away. The cost towalk is $15.00 each (Adult) and includes a PKD Walk T-shirt. We will get more info to you as it becomes available. We all know how PKD runs in our Family & we all know the importance of finding the Gene that carrys this horrible disease, so we are asking for your help by Walking With Us or Collecting Donations or Finding Cooperate Sponsorship and Most importantly Your Prayers. For those of you who can't make it, we will walk for you. Could you inform your immediate family about the date and time of the walk. Thank You for taking the time to read this. Love, Sarah & Jane

I then forwarded this email to all of you & I will continue to include it until the walk!!

I replied
It's so nice to here from you & I'm sorry we missed you on the 19th.
I got there approx 9:15 & sat at the counter waiting for everyone to get there. Me must have just missed each other. Too bad, I would have liked to meet you. I think I am planning to come home the weekend of your reunion on the 8th & Michelle Asplund asked me to stop by & I think I will take my Dad & a few of my Sisters & stop by. I hope to meet you then.
I also received your email about the PKD walk & I forwarded it to all the Family trying to Rally Support! I will also include the request for support in the June, July & Aug Virtual Reunion Email's
Have a great day & I will talk with you soon. Sincerely, Jean Fameree-Miller

Then I received an email from Nicole Fameree-Gall from Texas

Jean-My name is Nicole. I checked out your blogsite and it's quite a blog; it's a lot of information to take in. I am the granddaughter of Orville and Audrey Fameree, daughter of Orville (Jr.) and Janielle (his 1st wife). We were actually up in Wisconsin last May for Sarah and Andrew's wedding (Aunt Jane's daughter). We got the opportunity to meet Aunt Elsie (my grandfather's sister) at the wedding, which was a pleasure. About myself and familyI met my husband in high school senior year and we've been married for almost 6 and a half years. He is active duty in the Air Force and we are currently stationed at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX. In the 8 years that he's been in the military, we've been to San Angelo, TX and Okinawa, Japan. We have a son named Kalix, who just turned 2 April 7th. I am a stay-at-home mom and enjoy being able to watch my son learn and grow.
My Response
I'm so glad you responded & glad you got a chance to look at the Blogsite...
I think if you ask your Dad he will Know My Sister Ida & Maybe my Brother Jim(he's Passed). My Dad is Jule Fameree & our tie is My Grandfather Joe was brother to your Great Great Grandfather Frank & their Father was Honore who came over from Belgium with his Father & Mother Jean Babtiste & Claire & ultimately all of the Wisconsin Fameree's are a result of these people!!!

Maybe any siblings your Dad or any one else? Maybe if it's not to much trouble you could provide Birthdays for Parents & Siblings...

Hi Jean,
I am finally back on line. Yea!!! I will be sending you a snail mail update of my side of the family tree. I updated the family tree maker that I use and now information is all screwed up. So I need to fix it. The copy I am sending to you should be correct. The pics yous sent were cool. Was the older one a photocopy or a reprint? Would I be able to get a copy of it? It was nice meeting with you the other day. I didn't realize until I got home that I forgot the chocolate bar you gave me. Sorry. The girls loved the flags. They are displayed in their bedroom. I hope to see you again in June.
Michelle

I spoke with Michelle on 5/17 & she mentioned her daughter Hannah just celebrated her first Communion & she wore a dress from her Great Great Aunt Rita Fameree-Heraly's Wedding from 50 plus years before, they sent a breif note & A picture of Hannah with Great Great Aunt Rita, this picture will be attached in the seperate "Picture Virtual reunion".

Michelle's email said

Here are two pictures of Hannah & Rita. I hope they go through OK. We are still working on getting everything set up on this computer. Pictures were taken on 5-1-08.
Love, Michelle
She then sent an add on
I forgot to write about the dress. Oops. This dress was made by Hannah's great, great Aunt Mabel (Audrey (Arendt )Fameree's mother). For the wedding of Great, Great Aunt Rita Fameree to Lloyd Heraly on 06 September 1954. It was the flower girls dress and was worn by Hannah's Great Aunt Bonnie (Arendt) VanPay. Hannah's older sister Rachel also wore it when she made her 1st Communion. I wore it for an anniversary of Rita and Lloyd's when they had the wedding re-enacted. hope that all made sense. Michelle

Next I received an email from Jeanette Fameree-Vandervest from Wisconsin

I received a reply from Hugues Fameree from Belgium after I sent a link to Geneanet .com with some Fameree info in it.

Hi,
A great many thanks for this information. My grand-greatfather is undoubtly included in the branch 10 (Victor Famerée) since he had effectively been teacher in Dorinnes as mentioned in the link. Moreover, I found on an other genealogy web the fact that he was born in Schaltin and the same info's on on his parents as in geneanet. However, with your mail, I gain one step back more! Kind regards, Hugues

I'm glad to work with you & everyone to solve our mystery !!!
So help to understand clearly, Your Father is Andre, his Father is Victor born in 1857 And was a teacher, his Father is Jean Louis born in 1830, & his Father is Pierre Joseph who was married to Marie Catherine Lambert?
I believe our relation lies at least 2 Generations above Pierre Joseph.
There is a Preist / Theologian & his name is Joseph Fameree as well(I included what I think are his email's) & he may have some answers to our quest? He once sent a letter in reply to one of our relatives in Wisconsin, stating that our relationship goes back 8 generations!!!
So this Journey continues... I will continue until I figure this out!
Sincerely Searching, Jeanne

Hugues Wrote

Some correction requested to the scheme: between my father (had 3 brothers) and Victor, there was Jules, self employee (had 2 sisters and 4 brothers): for the remaining part of the tree, branch 10 seems to be consistent, but as I told you, the last step (Pierre Joseph oo Marie Catherine Lambert) is new info for me. For the missing link, it must be a minimum of 2 or 3 generations. There was a priest Joseph, brother of my grand father Jules, but there is no link with the theologian corresponding with you, and there is also a missing link with the Famerée living currently in Schaltin. Kind regards, Hugues

I replied

I am still confused on your lineage, I have been comparing your excel family tree to your info giving, to the geneanet info, I understand they missed your Father & his brothers & they also missed Victor & Jules Siblings, could you update your excel document of your family tree & highlight your path? Because according to your spreadsheet from April 4 08, you have Jules & Victor listed as brothers, but I understood Victor was your Great Grandfather, but you mention below that Jules is your Grandfather, does this mean that Jules Father is Victor?
I think if you update your Family tree & send it, it will help me to understand better.
Thanks for all your help Hugues. Sincerely, Jeanne

Then Kathy Ducat sent an email

Hello Jean,Hope this finds you doing well.On Thursday, we made a trip to GB to see G-mom Libbie. She is in thehospital and trying very hard to be strong. She fell sometime betweenSaturday night and Mother's Day. It is unclear whether or not shesuffered a stroke. It is difficult to understand her words. She isconnected to many tubes. She really wants to go home :)At 98 she continues to be brave and strong willed. I feel so for thechildren faced with making tough decisions for her care. I never really feel cheated n life with this visual impairment whichkeeps me from driving except when it comes to being able to go to GreenBay when I want / need to. Jim works every Saturday at the Post Office so when we go up onSaturday night and come back home on Sunday night, our visits are always shortand jammed packed with visits.I've been trying to find ride shares through Craigs list and e-rideshare.com for Friday nights, but it is risky and not so common of an area. Many ride share offerings go to Minneapolis and Chicago from theMadison area. Anyway, I will continue looking especially given grand child#2 is soon to make her/his way into our world around June 1st.We have planted a garden this year. The first time we have plantedorganic seeds as far as vegetables and herbs go. This is not to say weplanted a lot because it is small compared with others, but it will befun to see if the strawberry spinach and ground cherries come up. Theyare kind of different garden offerings. We also belong to a community sponsored agriculture program. We buy ashare in a farm which grows organic produce. We receive a box everyweek. It is fun to try different vegetables and herbs. The farm alsooffers strawberry picking. I have been tandem cycling a lot as part of a training program. Ourlong ride is scheduled for 06/14/08. It is a 65 mile ride throughwestern Dane County. The terrain is very challenging as it includes 12 verysteep hills. The name of the ride is Horrible Hilly. It is fundespite the level of physical challenge it presents. I spend as much time ona bike right now as I did while taking a college class. Good thingcollege is done for the summer.Following the bike ride, I'll begin training to run the NYC Marathon inNovember. I am in the hunt for a treadmill so weather cannot be afactor in the training for that event.Do keep me posted of upcoming Richard concerts as it would be fun tomeet you all in person.Below are our family birthdays. Virtual Reunion Letter #5 5/1/08

Another Month has past,
Here are the Highlights & Happenings!!

1st off I'd like to share a little of our "John Babtiste Day" celebration.
My Sister Jo-Anne & My Partner Dan & I had a little get together at my house, we shared a Belgian meal consisting of Chicken Booyah, Croissants & Gallettes for dessert, we also had some Belgian Beer & Dan made some home made chocolate bars & self labeled them John Babtiste bars.
We also said a special prayer before our meal, thanking God for our blessings, The food we had to share, with good company, we also thanked the Lord for John Babtiste, If it weren't for him All Wisconsin Fameree's would not exist!!!
Throughout the evening several calls were made, My Sister Ida had the same menu as we did in celebration & our other Sister Mary was there along with Ida's Daughter Allison. Ida had a surprise visitor for her party...
Her Son Andrew had an unexpected leave from the Army, He has been serving in Iraq since September...
So needless to say it was quite a celebration in Wisconsin as well.
We also spoke with Richard Fammeree that evening. We all expressed the wish that next year, April 1st, more members can join us...
I have included pictures for all to see.

April 4th, Dan & I went to Richard & Rachel's Performance at a Gallery in Chicago, entitled "Lessons Of Water & Thirst" Presented by Pont des Arts features the passionate poem - songs of poet and composer Richard Fammeree, singer - songwriter - bass player Carrie Ingrisano, Guitarist Victor Sanders.
The whole evening was very impressive, it truley was "The Marriage of Poetry and Music"
I will attach pictures for all to view.

This past Easter Dan & I went to Ohio to continue an ongoing mission of the rehabilitation of the "Villa", soon this WILL be OUR Sanctum Sanctorum...
I have attached a picture of Dan's work bench area along with several pieces of his Brother Jon's artwork that has finally been displayed properly...

April 19th Dan & I drove home to Wisconsin & while we were there, I arranged an impromptu get together with some Fameree Cousins at a little cafe in Casco, Wisc.
My Dad Jule,Sisters Ida & Jo-Anne,Ethel Fameree Heier,Rita Fameree Heraly & her Husband Lloyd, Dennis & Linda Arendt & 2 of their Daughters Amy & Michelle,Michelle's 2 Daughter's Hannah & Nicole, Gene & Madella Collins & Last but not least Dan & Myself all had a great visit.

Saturday Evening April 19 was my Neice Leah Lax (My Sister Mary Fameree's Daughter's) Junior Prom & She was on the Court of Honor. I have attached a picture, she looked so pretty (like a little princess)

Sunday the 20th was another celebration, this was for my Neice, Jamie Jo Fameree (My Brother James' middle Daughter), it was her Bridal Shower. A good time was had by all.

Richard had a visitor as well this month, Cousin Tom Fameree was in Chicago-land for his work & paid a visit to Richard, Rachel & Adele.

Richard came over to my house for a visit on the 26th & we really had a nice time looking at all his old photo's & letters, it was AMAZING!!!

May Birthdays...
(I have decided the best way to present the birthday section is in Alpha order by first name,it will be the easiest way to find yourself or loved ones)

Happy Birthday / Bon Anniversaire to all

I

Richard's Thoughts

By the time I was in second grade (seven years old), I walked to schooleach morning by myself. I nibbled yellow cheese the entire way. In thecold of winter, the cheese would taste a little of my woolen mittens. My mother once asked, “Why do you do this each morning?”Without hesitation, I answered, “Because there are people who eatcheese in a land very far away, across an ocean. They live in a villagesurrounded by a blue forest. They are my family.” Twenty years later, I walked the forests of the Ardennes I hadenvisioned (or, perhaps, remembered?). In search of family, I had hiked fromthe very south east of Belgium toward Brussels. I only knew mygreat-grandfather’s name and the town of his origin: Longueville. I followed avoice, an intuition, which told me that I would finally find family;for I had no cousins in America. I had no extended family. That is how I met Freddy Fammerée, his wife Annie and their twochildren Philippe and Catherine. And this is how I am finding you, for I would like my family--Rachel,petite Adèle (who is taking her first steps) and me--to be family withyou. Once the Famerees/Fammerées lived closely in an ancient village. Now,we are beginning to have a similar opportunity after so manygenerations apart. It may be a new, virtual village, but at least we cancommunicate immediately and share news. And we are all so blessed to be related to dear Jeanne, who I am surewill one day be honored as a matriarch of the Fameree-Fammerée clan. .. perhaps, at a family reunion in Longueville, Belgium. Blessings to all, with love, Richard

My Reponse to Anne

I am so happy you responded!
I feel sad that I did not get to meet you when I visited Belgium last May.
My hopes is that I will visit again & then I will have a reunion with all relatives.
Until then, please enjoy all the correspondences and if you would like me to add anything to our emails just let me know & I will. I would love to add any stories you may have or maybe a favorite recipe, or a tradition that you & your family observe.
Have a nice evening & I will talk with you soon.Sincerely, Jeanne Fameree

Terry Fameree responded as well

Hi Jean

Thank you for including me on your email list. I will be responding with information on our "limb of the tree" as soon as I get a chance to put together the information.
I have not had a chance to read all of the info sent to me so far but you are right Nory and Evangeline were my parents. My dad actually spelled his name Nora. I will include info on my siblings, there were 6 of us. Would you also like info on our children and grandchildren as well. Again thanks and I will be getting back to you with our information soon. Terry Fameree

My reply was...
Yes, I would love to hear about Kids, Grand kids, Siblings...I thought there was only 4 of you. Please send any family Pix with explanations of who is who. I would also like email address' for any family member you feel may enjoy our history & events of Family...
Also, if you have any Belgian traditions you remember observing,What you do for a living, what are your hobbies etc...
I remember your Dad & Mom visiting my folks often, but I don't remember any of you guys. Thanks again Terry,I look forward to hearing from you again.

Terry then replied

Hi Jean

Thanks for the information you have sent me thus far. You are correct my parents were Nora and Evangeline. I remember visiting your grandparents many times when I was a child. "Uncle Joe", he was actually my great uncle, was one of the few Fameree relatives of that generation that I remember. You are right my grandparents were Frank and Ernestine Fameree.

Although my dad spelled his name Nora most people pronounced it Noree and he always said he had been named after his grandfather. Now I see that, although it was spelled differently, how it ties together.

I am an electrical inspector for the State of Wisconsin and live in Green Bay with my wife Mary.

I hope you can understand this. If you have any questions please let me know and thank you for the effort of entering all of this info.

I have talked to my brothers and sisters and they are all excited about seeing what you have sent me thus far. I have emailed Jill copies of the emails so far. if you want to include her on your mailing list I'm sure she would appreciate it. At this time she is the only one with an email address however I'm sure some of the grandchildres have email as well and if I get addresses I will forward them to you.

Thanks again for the effort you are putting into this and I will be sending you more information and maybe some pictures when I get a chance. Terry

Then Hugues Fameree from Belgium

I'm not sure of the how we are related but Trying to figure it out ...
I have high hopes that Maybe Frederic,Joseph, Anne Rigot-Parfait or Jean Rigot will have some recognition of some of the names that will follow...

Please Help us to solve our Mystery!!!

Hi,I've only few informations on the family origin:- the spelling of my branch is Famerée- by the end of the 19th century my great-grandfather was living inSchaltin and his profession was teacher in a primary school: I'm sure about that, just because a long time ago, each year, I accompaniedmy parents and my grand aunt Germaine to the cemetary of Schaltin to paytribute to her dead parents, burried there.- in the attached excel spreadsheet I tried to give the genealogicaltree from them to now, with a lot of blanks reflecting the fragmentationof the family, due among others to geographical dispersion and lifecircumstances...- once, one of my teacher at secondary school told me he was doingresearch on the roots of the family names and that he had found it for theours: it seems it's coming from "framée" , the french name of aFrankish sword with 2 cutting sides. Effectively, there are branches with asfamily name Framée, Framerée...
In the meantime, I spoke of your mail with my mother: the first name ofmy great-grandfather was Victor, and his spouse family name wasDelvaux, of a Scaltin family too.Kind regards,Hugues Famerée
My excited response was as follows.

Sent: Fri Apr 04 19:35:25 2008Subject: This Confirms it, WE ARE RELATIVES!!!!OH MY GOD!!! WE ARE RELATIVES!!!If you see my Spreadsheet Victoire Joseph Born in 1806 (This has to be your great grandfather) he is the Brother to Jean Babtiste & Constant!!!This is AMAZING!!!Fameree Hugues wrote:
Perhaps, but it'sn't the missing link, as it is Victor not Victoire. Moreover, he was still alive in 1918 and perhaps later and not so old, all his children being born at about the inception of the 20th century. I guess that in 1918 he was a man aged of about 50 of something like that....

I then Replied,

You are right Hugues, there is more...

The Victoire that is Jean Babtiste & Constant's Brother would have been 112 years old in 1918...
I will have to rely on you,Frederic & Joseph maybe for more clues.
Thanks again for all your help.

Also, I have been having a wonderful email repor with

Ah Bajou, Come se va ( Hello,How are you in Walloon Belgian Language),
My Father Jule speaks the Walloon language fluently. I only know a few words.
Honore Fameree is my Great Grandfather, he is buried at my Family Gravesite in Red River Wisconsin.
My Father Jule is the Constable of the Township of Red River , he is 82 years old!!!
He still lives on the land that was granted to Jean Babtiste in 1859.
Catherine Fameree-Wery Aunt Cate was a very very religious person & she healed sick people through faith.
It would be nice if you traveled to the USA & visited the area in Wisconsin with many Belgian Settlers.
In my research last night I found out there was another Fameree born in Schaltin named Adele, Daughter of Joseph Marie (I think???).
Thank you again Joseph For your interest & your help.
I think I want to visit Belgium again in 2009, I hope I can meet with you & Your Family.

Sincerely, Jeanne

Ah Bajou, Come se va ( Hello,How are you in Walloon Belgian Language),
