A Boat

Your toes to my bow, a knee to your aft, my fingers inside a strap ofyour camisole, your arms vining and rubbingand the movement of my right shoulderI untie from my God and every god story-- Come the windand the wake and the rainSap fattens and ovals our lips, blind petals of a previous crossingThey are tart; they are wet They are plum; they are aspsLook, the water is tarnished. It is the first generationof leaves dyingDown in our belly we are happy. We twine in the deliciousdeciduous mess of our pulpA Boat [#40]© 2000 Fammerée* * * * *Richard Fammeréefammeree@att.netdirector@universeofpoetry.org* * * * *“A Boat” appears in Lessons of Water & Thirst, a book of poems by Richard Fammerée.* * * * *Richard would like all our Family to please visit the myspace link below to experience a great treat!!!

"The Responders"

1st I received an email from Diane Flynn from Belgium
I note from http://www.fameree.blogspot.com/ that you mention two of my children as having birthdays in December. Jane Heloise Flynn 13/12/1986 and Christopher John Flynn 28/12/1991.
My maternal grandmother's maiden name was Vlies and we have quite a lot of family history records here.
Perhaps you could tell me how you managed to get details of two of my children but not all, and a little bit about yourself, and how you think your family may link up with mine. I am English but currently living in Belgium and know that our ancestors lived here in the past and also that there is a link in France and Wisconsin amongst other places in the world.
The first and only record of your family name that we have is Honorat Fameree born 8 Sept 1849 who I think married Ann Marie Josephe Vlies, both born in Belgium but died in Wisconsin. If this is your family we are from slightly separate lines in the family tree - I from Jean Baptiste Vlies born 24 May 1714 and you from his brother Paul Vlies born 30 April 1713, their father being Egide Vlies born 3 March 1680. As far as I can tell our records go back to possibly 1550. It would be great to hear from you.
Best wishes Diane Flynn
I replied
It is so nice to hear from you & glad that you took an interest in the Family blogsite.
I know it is allot of information. But there is much historical information regarding my family & the Belgians pilgrimage to the USA & in particular Wisconsin (Where I am from as well as the majority of the Fameree's), there is also a very large number of the Vlies Family in Wisconsin & my Family is still very close with the Vlies Family.
You are absolutely correct in your research. The only connection that I have found with the Vlies Family is through my Great Grandfather Honore who married Anne Marie Josephe (Mary) Vlies.
When I visited distant relatives in Hamme Mille BE, I was given a disc with a family tree & he completed all of the research not only for the Fameree's but everyone that married a Fameree & their Families, which explains why I would have some of your family listed in my records. I then copied the GED file to Geneanet so that I could access many of the records easier. His records probably are greater than 15/20 years old & I believe he acquired most of the info from the Geneology Archives in Utah.
I hope this helps to answer some of your questions.
I will include you in my family list so that when I update the Family blog site you will be notified, however if you would rather not be included just let me know. Also if you would like to include your other Children names & birthdays I will surely update my files. I hope you enjoy your weekend with much sunshine & smiles.
Kind regards Jean Fameree-Miller

Hello Jean
Thanks for your reply. Having investigated a little further, I see you have all my children's details and also those of my parents and my brothers! Someone has done a very thorough job so I don't think you need any further details as you may feel my branch is too far removed. However, I would love to be included in your family list.
Sadly, I don't know any living Vlies members of the family. My grandmother died in 1993 and my mother was her only child, having lost two boys as babies. My mother also died at the early age of 56 in 1987 and of course her name was Hargreaves before she married my father.
Anyway, onwards and upwards. It is our intention to research here in Belgium. My husband is fascinated and we have already been to some of the villages where our ancestors came from. There are many Vlies in the graveyards but I haven't looked for Fameree. As you can imagine, life is hectic and time to do some of these things is hard to find. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to my mother-in-law who has done all our family history research, not only on my mother's side but also on my father's side. He comes from a huge family.
I know my mother-in-law received a letter from a Lloyd E Vlies in Cedarburg, WI in 1998. I look forward to receiving the next newsletter in due course.
Best wishes. Diane
I then received a very heart warming note from my Niece
Jamie Fameree-Elliott
I just wanna tell you again how much I love this site...and of course I owe you for my A on my Belgian project:)
Do you ever get discounts on Great America tix??? Haven't talked to Ryan about it...but I think it'd be so fun to come out there this summer if we can afford it! You wouldn't happen to know how far away you are from Platteville???? Okay...bunch of random thoughts. I just rattled out 4 pages of a paper and in the rambling mode...on a Saturday night, yuck! Talk to you soon! Jamie
It’s so nice to hear positive feedback!!!

Glad you enjoy the Blog, I put allot of effort into it. I gotta tell you though Facebook has been a godsend, cause I can get pix of people to coincide with events like graduations,Anniversaries etc... & I don't have to keep bugging people for tidbits of info about themselves, pretty cool huh?
You know this will some day be a book... or at least a neat thing for the next generations to come.
I do get coupons for Great America but usually only 5$ off or later in the season sometimes 10$.
Last year I won tix for the Bristol Renaissance Faire, If I win some more maybe you guys may be interested in that. I don't know where Platteville is, Why?? who's there

Love to you and all, Richard, Rachel and Adèle Fammerée

I sent a Facebook note to Mike Fameree & he responded
Wow, thanks for sending me this info! I had no idea this blogsite existed!
I replied
Hi Mike,I know it's allot of info, but I hope you enjoyed it. I update it monthly & then send email notification to all in my family list.If you would like to send a little blurb about yourself & Family I will include it in the next update, I will try to get it updated this weekend. Are you Russell's son? I have a vintage photo of Jean B Fameree aka Johny (your Great Grandfather) that I can send if your interested.
Mike sent
My parents are James and Zoe Fameree, my grandfather was Melvin Fameree, and my great-grandfather was George Fameree. My dad and grandparents grew up in Kewaunee County near Algoma, WI. My dad moved to Green Bay when he and my mom got married, and that's where I grew up.I live close to there now, with my wife Jessie, and stepchildren Kaiya and Gavin.
I replied
Hi Mike,I'm glad you responded and I hope you received the blog update notice. I did a little research after I sent my last note to you. I found out from which branch of our Family your from. I was incorrect about Jean B Fameree being your Great Grandfather as you well know. He is your Great Great Grandfather & the brother to my Grandpa Joe. The offer still stands if your interested in some vintage photos of Jean(AKA John)Oh By the way my Sister Mary Said that your Grandmother Geraldine goes to our Hometown Church in Lincoln & She & I think your Mom & Dad came to My Dad's Funeral this past March.
Mike sent
Thanks for the additional family info! Yes, I would very much like some vintage photos of Jean! You can send via e-mail Yes, my Grandma Gerry does go to church in Lincoln. My grandpa Melvin is buried in the cemetery there, also. Wow, it is a small world!
I responded
When I get home from work tonight I will send from my Home PC, I will also send you a copy of the Land Deed from 1859 when Jean Baptiste (the Granfather to your Great Great Grandfather) aquired the original 40 acres, signed by President Buchanen. (My immediate family is still owners of the land)Maybe you & your family can think about attending the Lincoln Kermiss (it's usually end of Aug) I will find out the exact date for sure & post it in next months blog update. And if you decide to come you could do a drive by at the Family land & see it for yourself. There is and old Log structure on the property & some day I would like to initiate a Habitat for preserving our family history & gather as many family members as I can to re-stabilize the structure, and then it can be used as a sort of historical family site for all.
I then corresponded with Sue Fameree-Schmidt on FB
View my Blogsite at http://fameree.blogspot.com/I believe all Fameree's from Wisconsin Are related. Please contact me if interested in Fameree History.Sincerely, Jean Fameree-Miller
Sue Fameree Schmidt
OMG, we r related, you have my cousin Robin Nelson's pic on here. You have put a lot of work into this, my father would have loved it.
Jean Fameree-Miller

Sue Fameree Schmidt

I graduated in 82.If you can hang on for a pic, I'll probably be posting better ones in the near future. The pics on here don't do me justice at all, lol, all from party nights. Do you mind if I give the blog address to mom, she may be able to give you information that u r looking for.
Jean Fameree-Miller

Sincerely, Jean
Terri Fameree
Hi Jean... I remember you.,,, hope you are well ... I will check out the site thank you...

Next Richard & I received an email from another Belgian Relative
Subject: Genealogy of the Vlies family with Belgian origin
My name is Etienne Liesse from Belgium, and leave near Opprebais and Longueville- the village of Malèves Sainte Marie.Belgium
I’ve researched the Vlies Family in the USA, because my last name Liesse, before 1740, was Vlies. I have information until 1920, of the descents of Pierre Joseph , and Petitjean Marie Charlotte, who came in Wisconsin 5 Luxembourg), and Frank Joseph the son.
I’ve found many Vlies family members, with birthday date in your blog.
Can help me to join all these family members to my tree.
If you will, I can send to you, the tree I have.
I thank you very much. Greetings. Etienne Liesse Belgium
Richard then replied
Dear Etienne,
Thank you for your note. It is always a pleasure to meet a cousin, however distant. I am certain that between cousin Jeanne here in the USA
"Fameree, Jean"
and cousin Frédéric in Belgium we can help you reconstruct your family tree. Please send the information you have to all of us. Jeanne is the expert on the family in Wisconsin; Freddy is the expert on our family in Belgium.
I am doing research as well with which, perhaps, you could help.
On Novemebr 25, 1703, Mathieu Famerée married Marie
Ramelot in the town of Schaltin. We know he died on October 12,
1746.
It was Nicolas Famerée [Famre/Famere/Famrée] who
traveled from the "Department of the Ourthe" (River") and settled in
Longueville. His son, of the same name, was born in 1727; he died in
Longueville 28 February 1807.
Frédéric, Jeanne and I are
great-great-great-great-great grandchildren of Nicolas Sr.
How were Nicolas Sr. and Mathieu related? Here, I Believe, is the key to going further back into our roots.
By the way, the great-great granddaughter of Nicolas
Sr. was born Marie-Adele Fammerée in Longueville on 27 April, 1853.
Her great-great niece is my two year old daughter Adèle and her namesake.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Blessings, Richard Fammerée
In French
A bientôt. Blessings, Richard Fammerée

Take Good Care My Family!!! See you at the Kermiss
