Virtual Reunion Letter # 4 4/1/08

This picture is of My Grandfather Joseph Fameree & Grandmother Ida Fameree Grandpa Joe's Birthday was in March & Grandma Ida's Birthday Is April 1st also.
April 1, 2008 Another Month has past,
Here are the Highlights & Happenings!!
April holds special meaning for all the Wisconsin Relatives
This month holds the birthday of;
*****Jean Babtiste Fameree*****
****April 1st 1810****
It is Jean Babtiste & his Wife Claire Anne Joseph Stuter-Fameree, who are indirectly responsible for ALL Fameree's in the Wisconsin area!!! WOW... So, Going Forward we will have our own little self declared Belgian Family Holiday, every April 1st we will celebrate... John Babtiste Day.
I, myself will celebrate with a few Family members & Friends. We will have American made Belgian Beer, Chicken Booyah (this is a hearty chicken soup with veggies & potatoes)(very common in my hometown Wisconsin area). We will also be serving a Belgian tradition that my Family always served on New Years Day morning which is what we referred to as Gallette's (we serve pre made waffles served with warmed milk Cinnamon & Sugar. YUMMM

I was asked to include the recipes,

So Here is our first "Recipe Corner". (if any one has a favorite Recipe of a traditional dish please send it to me & it will be included

Chicken Booyah
1 whole Chicken (a stewing or broiler chicken works best)
Salt & Pepper to taste
1 Large Onion
2 Tablespoons Chicken base or bouillion cubes (6 or 8)
2 or 3 Bay leaves & 2 or 3 Garlic cloves (to be removed from kettle when Booyah is done)

Boil chicken until meat falls off the bone, (several hours) , then remove chicken from kettle & take meat off the bones & cut up the meat into small chunks.

put the Chicken chunks back into the broth and add
4 large carrots chopped
4 to 5 potatoes chopped
1 stalk of celery chopped
you can also add a small bag of frozen veggetables.

bring this back to a boil then lower heat to simmer for 3 to 4 hours.

at this point it is ready to eat
(I like to add egg noodles) just turn heat off add 2 handfulls of egg noodles & let sit for 30 minutes.
Then Enjoy!!!

Gallettes
2 cups (500 ML) flour
2 Tablespoons (30 ML) sugar
1 Tablespoon (15 ML) baking powder
1 teaaspoon (5ML) salt
1 3/4 cups(440 ML) milk
1/3 cup (85ml) vegetable oil
2 eggs

Combine flour,sugar,baking powder and salt.
Stir together milk,oil and eggs.
gradually add milk mixture to the dry ingredients.
stir until just blended.
Pour into Waffle baker.

cook for approx 5 minutes

then allow waffles to cool.
Put waffles in large bowl and set aside.

in a small pan warm milk, maybe 1 or 2 cups
add sugar & cinnamon to taste.

pour over the waffles & cover with a small plate & plce something heavy on the plate,
so the waffles absorb the warm milk.

then scoup out spoonfuls & serve
Bon Appetit!!

Richard's Thoughts

Richard would like to share his poem intitled Longueville (this is the town where most of our Families originated) which is posted on his blog site http://fammeree.blogspot.com/
Please visit Richards blogsite as well as ours, the only difference being the double M's.

Longueville
Conspicuous as a sonnet, I pass through shadows. I do not know their names and I decide not to count. There are so many going up the hill and back, alongside the vein of meadowsweet and loam. They are a forest. They are a frost. I am their field. Each ancestor rising one summer higher in a line, planted along the rutted road which is now a footpath for fewer and fewer. It is a Roman lane. Their tomb is a moundsprouting yew and laurel, the belly of a Goddess pregnant for at least two thousand years. They return to recall as do their descendants, my ancestors. One day, my daughter will come here and tell this story to her grandchildren, and they will sit within my shade and shiver with mysteries as she, three months old today, looks upmy tall, deciduous body into leaves.* Longueville is a medieval French, now Belgian, village founded by the Romans, inhabited by my family since at least the early eighteenth century.c Fammerée 2008* * * * *

(What I now like to refer to as), "The Responders"

{this is the section where Relatives have emailed me with news or information about themselves or their immediate family members.}

(I have high hopes that this section will be pretty large one day). I so LOVED receiving emails from Cecile Rigot and Joseph Fameree this past month & Sylvie Rigot & Kathy Ducat in February, in which they shared a little bit about themselves & their immediate families. Any one that would like to share just send me an email at jmfm123@yahoo.com or Richard Fammeree at fammeree@att.net & we will make sure it is included in the very next Virtual Reunion email!!!

1st one is Cecil Rigot from Brussels Belgium.

Hello dear family, Here you can find the birthday of my father
Jean Rigot 24/06/1928 (almost 80)
My sister Françoise Rigot 20/04/1958,
and me Cécile Rigot 11/09/1961.
With love Cécile

I responded to Cecile with my email below

Hello Cecile, I'm so glad you responded, I thank you so much. If you would like to send me an email in "French" telling us a little bit about yourself that would be GREAT! I can always translate through the Internet or Richard is French Speaking (he can help).
I would love to hear more about my Belgian relatives...
(what do you do for a living?,do you have any Children?,what do you do for fun?,... I'm sad I didn't get to meet more of the relatives when I was in Belgium last May.
I will have to visit again. Take good care & thanks again for writing!

Sincerely, Jeanne

Cecile wrote back with..

Hello Jean. I'm 46 years old. I'm living with my friend José Perez (48) and from time to time with his son Ruy Perez (16). We have an appartement in Brussel.
I'm policeofficer, singer. José is journalist, writer, poete.
I'm the daughter of Jean and Annie Rigot, cousin of Simon, Sylvie, Jean-Charles and Jerome Rigot. For fun, my best practice is singing, always singing, alone or with my guitar or with Simon when it's possible, with Richard one time, i loved....
For the rest, it's the common life of everybody, you know. Unfortunaly, I don't have children. I received your nice pictures, and next time I wil send pictures of my family.

Best regards Cécile

Then we have a response from Joseph Fameree from Schaltin, Belgium

I copied Frederic Fammeree who lives in Hamme-Mille in hopes he can help to figure this out.

Sincerely,
Jeanne Fameree

Joseph replied to me,

Hello Jeanne Fameree,Thank you for your beautifull picture.I would like to know my great father's name.I will send you adresses of other Fameree families of the country in few daysBest regards
Joseph FAMEREE

I am not certain where the relation with Joseph is???,I think his great Grandfather may be the Brother to Jean Babtiste & Constant. Frederic Fammeree in Belgium has many resources available to him & I beleive he will help us to find the connection...

I also had several lovely conversations this past Saturday with, Jane Hafeman (Daughter of Orville Fameree- who is the Son of Ernest Fameree- who is the Son of Frank Fameree- who is the Son of Honore Fameree- Son of Jean Babtiste.

I also spoke with Ethel Heier, (Daughter of Ernest) the rest is the same as Jane.

And I spoke with Michelle Arendt-Asplund, Michelle's Grandmother is Ethel's Sister.

Ethel has been researching diligently on our Family Heritage for a great many years & I look forward to having conversations with her going forward.

Please Note: Don't forget to send a little summary of who you are, what your hobbies and interests are, what is or was your profession and maybe a Family photo, listing who is who.
Also, if there is someone in our relation that hasn't made our email list please forward the email addresses to me so I can include them.

Emails can be sent in French, Richard can help me to translate or I can utilize a translation service from the internet.

Snail Mail Version to Share...

I have attached a "word document" version of this letter, for anyone who wishes to print out a hard copy & send or hand deliver to our relatives without a computer or access to internet.
I send a copy to My Dad & Gale Fameree every Month & I think they like it...
(I just sent all back issues to Ethel Heier & she should have good reading for days!!!)

Frederic Fammeree's Birthday
I would like to take this opportunity to wish him a very warm & heartfelt Birthday wish.I raise my glass to you Mr. Frederic, I am so glad that I met you & shared some good wine & dined with your family. You were an outstanding host & I enjoyed myself greatly!!!
Some day I hope to include all birthdays for each Month that the Virtual Reunion email is sent out. Or even better yet Richard, Frederic & I would like to one day have a website just for this purpose to keep all informed & up to date with current family goings on points of interest, until then, If all of you would send me an email with birth dates I will be happy to include them in our Virtual Reunion archive.

Well " A small miracle has happened" & I have been able to grasp 80% of the March Birthdays in our family archive (thanks to Frederic). However it was very time consuming and mostly all manual.. I exported the data from a Personal Ancestry File CD from Frederic & I dropped it into Excel to enable me to manipulate the data(there was greaterthan 50,000. line items OY VEY!!!(I'm so happy my Partner Dan is so understanding & Patient with me.

Thank you, Jean. You have such a generous, loving soul. I am honored to be your cousin.
And greetings, dear family! Adèle (Dorothea Webster Fammerée) is already eight months old and more beautiful and creative and observant every day. She is such a joy. Our newest game is Safari. Well, you can imagine. . . . Tout va tres bien--and will be even better next week when we travel to the warmth of Florida and Rachel’s parents and grandparents.
Here’s a puzzle. . . Perhaps a decade ago, I was having technical difficulty with my internet service. Quite late into the evening, I telephoned ATT to speak with a tech assistant. The wait was interminable. In the earliest hour of the next morning, the thin jazz suddenly stopped and someone finally said, “May I have your name?” I realized with a start that he knew how to spell Fammeree without assistance. This had never happened before. He explained, “ I went to school with a kid with that name.”“Where are you? “This service center is in British Columbia. “British Columbia?! Was he from British Columbia?” “Yes.”“What was he like?”“Tall. Thin. Dark eyes. Dark hair. Quiet.”“A loner?”“A loner.” I was so astonished, I omitted to ask his first name. “Where is he now?” “I have no idea. Right after high school he left for the Yukon. I Haven’t seen him or heard form him since.”I am still astonished by this revelation and hopeful that one day we shall find more family and ancestors who probably arrived to the new world through Quebec. But when? In the 18th century or even 17th century? And. . . another Fammeree with two “m”s. Hmmm. . . . Curious, indeed.
Did Jean-Baptiste [Jean’s great-great grandfather] and Constant[my great-great grandfather] have another brother who migrated? Perhaps, there were cousins, too.
Can anyone help with this? Dear family, If you choose to share an occasional update, simply choose REPLY ALL and everyone will receive your story/update.
Jean and I are beginnig to collect remembrances. I would like to publish a book one day. Please include all contact information.
Gros bisous,

Cousins Richard, Rachel and Adele Fammerée

Hello Jean.

Sorry for my english which is not very good.

Here are somethings to do our family tree bigger and bigger. I a m very happy to know that a so great family is living through the world.
I hope that you will receive that with the colours i wrote to explain who is who.

I am Sylvie Rigot, Simon Rigot'sister and Anne-Marie Rigot-Parfait's daughter.

My grand-grand mother was Adèle Fammerée. She married Léopold Rigot, and my grand father Fernand Rigot (1894 1981) was their son. Josephine, Fernand's sister, had a very sortly life, only a few mounths. She was younger than Fernand but i don't remeber the dates. Frédéric Fammerée knows it.
Fernand married Marguerite De Wulf (1895 -1989) in 1920 or 1921.
They had three children:
a girl Josine (1922-1988), and two boys, Emile, my father, (1926-1995) and Jean ( 1928 and still alive).

- Josine married in 1943 André Faut; they were divorced later. They ad a girl : Catheline, born in 1943.
In 1954 or 1955 i suppose, Josine (we named her "Ginette") married Henri Cuypers (born in 1927 and still alive).

- Emile married in 1953 Anne-Marie Parfait (1930 and still alive). They have four children.
Sylvie (1958) - Jean-Charles (1960) - Simon (1961) - Jérôme (1966)

- Jean married Anne-Marie Fonck (i don't know exactly when. They have two daughters
Françoise (1958) and Cécile (1960)

Catheline Faut Married Harouna Kazubwenge in 1981 i think. They don't have children

Sylvie Rigot (me)
married in 1976 Michel de Wouters d'Oplinter. One daughter: Valentine de Wouters d'Oplinter (1978).
Divorced (officially but separeted before in 1981) in 1987
I am living for 1983 with Philippe Vismara. We have two children: a daughter Charlie Vismara (1987) , and a son, Loup Vismara (1995)

Jean-Charles Rigot
married in 1983 Caroline Adam. They have a son: Adrien Rigot born (1992). Divorced
Married in 2002 Julie Seynave. They have a daughter: Gaëlle (2004)

Simon Rigot
Have a son with Mieke (Maria Van Cleemput) : Louis Rigot (1994)
Married in 2006 with Lydia Simons

Jérôme Rigot
Lives with Ruth Smet. They have a daughter: Esther Rigot (2003)

Valentine de Wouters d'Oplinter ( my daughter) lives with Damien Joachim (1975?) They will marry next 24 may
They have two children: Edgard Joachim (2004) and Amélie Joachim (2005)

Françoise Rigot (Jean Rigot's daughter) married in 1991 Simon Silberberg.
Two children: Léa Siberberg (1993 ?) and Raphaël Siberberg (1997 ?)

I send you my best feelings.

Next comes Richards response to Sylvie on 2/29/08

Richard Fammerée here, little Adèle's papa and great-great grandson of Jean-Baptiste's little brother, Constant. Sylvie Rigot, who I am very happy to know personally, is a remarkably accomplished actress, scholar and woman. Her family is vibrant and creative. So happy to receive her note. And so happy that our family in Belgium and the US are becoming better acquainted. Thank you again, Jean, for all your work to help make this happen.
Love and blessings to all the family from Rachel, Richard and Adèle in a wintry Evanston, Illinois, for only another five days.
PS Adèle just scooted into my study and flashed one of those winning smiles we love so.

Next an additional email sent by Richard on 3/1/08

Bon jour, chere famille. Sunlight at last in Chicago! We are cheerful, to say the least.
Very happy to (virtually) meet cousine Kathy Ducat, her partner Jim, and family. She may attend one of my concerts or readings. How exciting. Remember, all family members receive a back stage pass. Really looking forward to doing a concert with the extraordinarily talented Simon Rigot and Cecile Rigot in Belgium. Now, that would be a concert for the entire family to attend! Love & blessings, Richard, Rachel et petite Adele Fammerée

Great job Richard!!!
I have replied to this email & included several more members of my immediate family as well as some cousins that I have their email address'.I am in the process of trying to gather more of the extended Fameree email address' so that we can "ALL" really get involved.
I'd like to take a brief moment to explain to all how we actually got as far as we did in connecting the Chicago & Belgium Fammeree's to the Wisconsin Fameree's.This goes back to about 18 years ago shortly after I moved to Chicago, When I believe, Lucille Perry [Grand Daughter to John Joseph,Daughter to Euginia] contacted my Mom Agnes & asked about me who she was aware lived in the Chicagoland area & got my contact info & put me in touch with a cousin of hers that we really did not know allot about & his name is RICHARD FAMMEREE. Now my dad Jule always said he was aware there was cousins in Chicago but he never met any of them. He recalledmany years before his Dad & Mom traveled to Chicago for a wedding, but that was all he knew. Anyways, My Mom & sister either Jo-Anne or Mary (not sure which one) were visiting & we all arranged a reunion, with Lucille,Richard & My Family. Then we lost touch for 15 years or so then Richard, my Sister Jo-Anne & I tried to get together a couple ofyears ago & we never QUITE made it... then last May Jo-Anne & I planned a trip to Belgium & I was aware there was relatives there but not sure of the specifics. I made contact with Richard once again & he gave me Frederic's contact info, and we connected while in Brussels, he picked us up at our hotel & we spent a lovely day with he & his family.Last Sunday My Boyfriend Dan & I visited Richard & his Girlfriend Rachel & their Baby Adele & a great time was had by all.I will attach a few pictures so everyone can share.

Sincerely,
Jean Fameree Miller

This is the original email sent out by Richard Fammeree(the Chicago & Belgium Fammeree’s spell there last name with 2 M’s) --- fammeree@att.net wrote: Yes. The correct answer is: Jean Famerée, a native of Wisconsin, is thegreat-great granddaughter of Jean-Baptiste Famerée. On May 13, 1856, Jean-Baptiste Famerée arrived to New York on the ship Gertrude with his wife Claire Anne Joseph Stuter and their seven year old son Honoré Joseph Alphonse. On May 2, 1859, James Buchanan, president of the United States of America, granted Jean-Baptiste forty acres in northeastern Wisconsin (presently the Green Bay region). His younger brother, Constant, remained in Belgium. Constant’s second boy Jean-Joseph traveled to America with his younger brothers Noel (Noel’s great-grandson Guy Bates lives in Arizona) & Jules as Chicago was rebuilding after the great fire of 1871. It is certain hetraveled up Lake Michigan to the new state of Wisconsin or, possibly having arrived in Montreal, visited enroute to Chicago. This would be Jean-Joseph’s first opportunity to meet his uncle and cousin. He was only one year old when they had left Longueville in the Brabant region of Belgium. Jean-Joseph Fammerée is my great-grandfather. His portrait is displayed above our fireplace, in a home merely eight miles north ofwhere he had originally settled in the Francophone neighborhood of Chicago. His brother Eugene’s great-grandson is Frederic Fammerée. His sister Adele’s great-grandson is SimonRigot. Our daughter is named for her. Yesterday afternoon, one hundred and fifty-two years later, Jean Famerée and Dan List visited me, Rachel and Adele. This reunion included Frederic & Annie and Simon & Lydia by telephone. Dear family, If you choose to share an occasional update, I would be happy to paste it into an “e-newsletter” and send to all. Please include all contact information. And please forward this invitation to all familymembers. For example, Rachel (Webster) and I continue to write and publish our poetry. Rachel appeared in the January issue of PoetryMagazine, America’s premier journal. I continue to write and perform music and will soon be on tour. Adele will be eighth months old (already!) on February 22.She is adorable and independent. She’s certainly a traveler and alreadydemonstrates a compassionate soul. A special interest,UniVerse of Poetry (a not-for-profit organization dedicated to giving a voice through poetry to every nation regardless of territory) is expanding. Explanation of our Mission 2/10/08

Ok, so this is what Richard Fammeree (a Cousin) & I are trying to do, we are gathering as many Fameree family relatives that have email addresss’ as we possibly can, then every Month Richard or Myself will be sending out a "news letter" just to inform all, of any news, special events or any stories that we have compiled from any or all on our list. There is DEFINITELY no obligations to any, to participate. It's just a get to know your own history type thing. I urge you & yours (siblings or children/grandchildren)to send a little info about what you do or (did) for a living, where you live, who your children are, any special events ie; trips, weddings, babies, funerals or a story regarding anything remembered as a child or an adult. If it is not too much troubles it would be nice if you reply to all & include your children's email address' & or any other family email address' you may have.

Any help would be much appreciated.
